There’s nothing more fun and romantic than a destination wedding! Hollywood A-lister George Clooney and his stunning new bride human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin were married over the weekend in a lavish Venetian event.

With three days of parties followed by a civil ceremony, the festivities took centre stage in Venice, which the actor calls “the most romantic city in the world” and a natural choice for their wedding locale. “We met in Italy,” says Clooney, who has long owned an estate on Lake Como. “We have a home there. We knew that was where we wanted to get married.”

The brides mother was interviewed by PEOPLE after the event and said “George and Amal radiated love all night. The wedding was so unbelievably special, it was legendary. These three days – the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything – will stay with me all the rest of my life.”

New York socialite and trend setter Olivia Palermo and her German model partner Johannes Huebl tied the knot on the weekend in a simple wedding! The couple exchanged vows in a private intimate ceremony in a quiet park in remote Bedford, New York. The ceremony took place amongst a handful of family and friends stating “We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends. Bedford is such an amazing and romantic countryside,” Palermo stated in a post.

Making news this week was of course Olivia’s understated 3 piece wedding set by Carolina Herrera. She teamed a cream cashmere sweater with chic white shorts and a full tulle skirt overlay, cinched at the waste with a satin and silk belt. Olivia’s ‘something blue’ was of course her stunning cobalt blue shoes by her favourite shoe designer Manolo Blahnik.

Simple, elegant and humble, Olivia has set a new wedding trend which could inspire future brides to keep it low-key and enjoy the precious day.
